About Us, Press Release

(London, 12 March 2020) - Geospatial imagery and intelligence business Mckenzie Intelligence Services (MIS) has announced the appointment of Stuart (Oz) Lane as chief operating officer.

Lane is a specialist in strategy, operational management and leadership development and joins the MIS team at an exciting time of growth.

MIS has recently renewed its geospatial data intelligence and imagery contract with Lloyd’s of London, while developing other products and services.

Lane will be responsible for day to day operations and building MIS’ suite of capabilities for use by the insurance market. He will also seek out new markets where MIS can add value.

Prior to taking on a number of different operational and leadership roles since 2016, Lane was an officer in the British Army.

During his 20-years military career, Lane was involved in field operations in Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone, Iraq, Afghanistan and in conflict zones across Sub Saharan Africa and the Levant.

Most recently, Lane’s roles have been centred around humanitarian crisis response where he was the operations director for a globally focussed disaster response charity.

He also founded Spere a disaster response organisation and is a director in resilience@work a personal leadership and resilience strengthening company.

Commenting on the appointment, Forbes McKenzie, chief executive and founder of MIS, said: “We are delighted to welcome Oz to the team and his wealth of experience and knowledge in disaster resilience and operational management.

“As our ambitious growth plans begin to take shape and we further cement our relevance in the insurance market and other sectors, it’s only right that we attract the best talent to ensure we deliver on all that we set out to do,” he said.

Lane added: “It is a real privilege to be able to come and join the MIS team during this exciting period of growth. Having worked closely with MIS when I was responding to the Indonesian Tsunami crisis in 2018 I have seen up close the benefit their rapid and insightful analysis can bring to a wide range of organisations.”
