Forbes Mckenzie
Founder and CEO
Forbes is the Chief Executive Officer of MIS and founded the company following a decorated 10 year career in the British Army as a Special Duties Intelligence Officer, during which he led and implemented numerous global high risk strategic intelligence operations.
Since 2011, he has guided MIS from a start-up to an award winning scale-up that enjoys long standing commercial relationships with many of the world’s leading insurers. Alongside numerous sensitive Intelligence qualifications, Forbes has been nationally recognised by the UK honours system via a Mention in Dispatches and holds a BSc (Hons) in Geography (GIS and Climate change) from the University of Glasgow.

Emma Dunlop
Commercial Director
Emma is the Commercial Director. Emma came to MIS after 11 years working as a buyer in the retail sector for Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer. Her most recent retail appointment was as a Category Manager for Tesco where her area was worth £900 Million per annum. Emma is an experienced negotiator and has a strong financial understanding of business.
As a board observer, Emma is responsible for the financial oversight and reporting to the board and shareholders. She is the point of contact for all shareholders and strategises all commercial negotiations.
Emma has a 2.1 joint honours degree in History and Politics from the University of Glasgow and has achieved Distinction level at the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

Alex Horridge
Interim COO
Alex is the interim COO at MIS and has a strong background in operations management, project management and software development. He is responsible for the day to day operations of the business.
Alex started his MIS journey as a developer, and quickly established himself as the Lead developer of the development team; responsible for the systems architecture, databasing and product development.
Before joining MIS, Alex worked as an Operations Manager for McGregor Group, the leading agricultural and aviation polytunnel company in the UK. Whilst there, he managed the formation of Fabric Structures, a subsidiary of McGregor Group, and scaled the company to operate across 3 factories.
Alex also worked as a developer and consultant in the heritage world, building and designing GIS software for Historic England, Church of England and the majority of UK councils. Additionally, he consulted on a number of academic and governmental projects involving machine learning and automation as a technical specialist.
His academic background is in computational archaeology, specialising in archaeological predictive modelling and machine learning. His MSc Archaeology thesis used geospatial data & machine learning to predict undiscovered Neolithic sites in Dorset.

Rosina Smith
Head of Product
Rosina has joined MIS as the Head of Product. She has a background in Insurance having spent 7 years at one of the World’s largest insurers as well as Insurtech experience in the London & US markets. Rosina has set up dedicated Geospatial solutions, focusing on how location intelligence can be used to transform both Underwriting and Claims practices. She is responsible for ensuring MIS propositions continue to deliver competitive advantage for clients.

Stu Ray
Senior Imagery Expert
Stuart ‘Stu’ Ray is a remote sensing/satellite imagery expert. He completed 24 years in the Intelligence Corps of the British Army, during which he held various analytical appointments in a number of operational posts. Stu joined MIS in 2012 and was instrumental in adapting military processes to an entirely different customer base, excelling in supporting the specialist information requirements of our clients. He has experience in providing professional technical and subject matter expertise during deposition, resulting in favourable outcomes to our clients on complex business interruption, property and engineering losses. Stu holds a City and Guilds Graduateship in Intelligence Management.

Oz Smith
Senior Intelligence Analyst
Andrew ‘Oz’ Smith is a remote sensing/satellite imagery expert. As an intelligence analyst he has had a varied career across multiple disciplines within the Intelligence Corps of the British Army. His 24 years of service saw him providing specialist intelligence and advanced imagery intelligence to the Armed Forces and other partners. Since joining MIS in 2014, Oz has used multiple imagery sources and combined them with advanced technologies to deliver a service to various markets, including the media, insurance and environmental sectors.

Katherine Webb
Financial Manager
Katherine is the Financial Manager and has a strong background in accounts management and payroll. One of her most recent was as a Senior Bookkeeper for an SME, where she was responsible for all purchase ledger duties, monthly management, payroll etc. She has also worked with Multiple charitable organisations as a Finance officer, managing accounts, payroll and purchase ledgers.
Katherine is responsible for the monthly management accounts, as well as financial forecasting and R&D submissions.
Katherine is a part qualified Association of Accounting Technicians and is currently studying for the AAT Level 4 qualification with a special interest in Tax and Treasury Management.

Jess Horridge
Operations and Project Coordinator
Jess joined in 2020 as Project Coordinator for MIS’ technical roadmap, and has since been promoted to a role encompassing Operations, HR and Legal support. Previously she worked in local government where she gained experience in an Information Management & Records Archive role that encompassed a range of experience from Information Management data processing to project and change management.
Jess holds a PGDip in Management and a MSc in Archaeology from Bournemouth University, specialising in human osteology.

Reg Knight
IT Security Officer
Reg is a IT Security Officer for MIS. A self-employed Intelligence and Security contractor with significant training and mentoring experience and another former member of the British Army’s Intelligence Corps for 26 years, he is well versed in the exploitation of all types of imagery. Reg has put these skills to great use supporting the insurance market reporting on natural catastrophes and events such as the Beirut explosion in 2020. He holds a Bsc (Hons) in Intelligence and Security and a City and Guilds Graduateship in Intelligence Management.

Calvin Wylie
Senior Developer
Calvin Wylie is a software developer with multiple specialisations. Initially starting his career in video games programming, he has since built expertise in web development and GIS software and his graduate thesis focused on Real Time Machine Learning Algorithms. Since Joining MIS, Calvin has used his knowledge and investigative skills to help the company enhance satellite imagery delivery and analysis as well as his games background to prototype client centric data visualisation techniques.

Jake Chapman
Data Scientist
Jake has recently joined the MIS development team as a Data Scientist, focusing on automation of remote assessment and developing new insights using client and historic event data. He is a recent graduate from the University of the West of England in Computer Science, where he specialised in Artificial Intelligence, and his undergraduate research project used machine learning to identify plastic waste in the ocean using satellite imagery.
Jake also has a background in amatuer game development and spends his free time undertaking competitive game jam projects.

Sinclair Ross
Software Engineer
Sinclair Ross is a software engineer working to develop our underlying infrastructure. Coming from the games industry, he brings with him experience of engineering UI and graphics rendering solutions for titles on both Microsoft’s XBox One and Sony’s Playstation 4. Specialising in low level languages, Sinclair is able to write faster software with an emphasis on extensibility and scalability and provide this valuable asset to our offering.

Duncan Martyn
GIS and Remote Sensing Analyst
Duncan Martyn is a GIS and remote sensing analyst holding a BSc in Geography and MSc in Applied GIS and Remote Sensing. His undergraduate project investigated the effects of climate change on vegetation in Scotland using remote sensing data, while his MSc thesis focused on the impact of climate change on agriculture. Prior to joining MIS, Duncan continued work on a UN Food and Agriculture international development project and he has considerable experience with a variety of GIS and remote sensing softwares and data types.

Josh is the youngest and most recent addition to the MIS family having joined in 2019 straight from college, and hopes in time to complete an undergraduate degree in a related field. His main responsibility is to provide important key analysis of events and support to a number of teams within the company to enable them to deliver products to numerous markets including environmental, insurance and media sectors.
