Training

We deliver a variety of geospatial intelligence training courses to a diverse range of clients around the world. We have a number of training packages that we regularly deliver to governments, NGOs, humanitarian organisations and commercial clients on mapping, imagery analysis, synthetic aperture radar interpretation and the use of intelligence techniques in practice, or are equally happy to write and deliver new packages and mentoring schemes.

Our trainers are experienced and personable, with a focus on creating lasting theoretical insight and practical skills.

Imagery Analysis

1 week / day rate dependent on class size and location

Aimed at attendees with no previous experience with imagery analysis, this one week course will provide an introduction to remote sensing, explain the differences and advantages/disadvantages of EO, IR and SAR.

It will also include a short practical element using SNAP and QGIS so that the students have an insight into how EO, IR and SAR are viewed.


Modules include:

  • Introduction to imagery analysis
  • Principles of imagery analysis
  • Military and civilian uses of imagery
  • Platforms and sensor types
  • Use of SNAP to process SAR data
  • Use of QGIS to load, process and view EO, IR and SAR imagery

Imagery Intelligence

1 week / day rate dependent on class size and location

The course will teach students the basics of imagery analysis, and additionally how to conduct a full analysis of available EO and IR imagery to ensure installations, infrastructure and activity can be accurately reported.

Modules include:

  • Introduction to civilian and military installation analysis.
  • Introduction to ground, air and naval studies. Please note: this will include methods to describe ground equipment, aircraft and ships.

Synthetic aperture radar

Dependent on experience and required outcomes / day rate

We offer introductory and advanced SAR courses, including a significant number of practical training exercises at all key stages to ensure students are well versed in SAR theory and how to analyse and utilise SAR data in their organisations.

Modules include:

  • Theory of RADAR
  • Introduction to RADAR Imagery
  • The different bands used for SAR imagery
  • Remote sensing using RADAR
  • Flight and directional terminology
  • Introduction to SAR effects and anomalies
  • Working with SAR data in SNAP and QGIS
